2005 World Citizen Award Recipients
Erskine Bowles  &  Crandall Bowles

Erskine and Crandall Bowles were both honored on October 25, 2005 at the World Citizen Award Dinner hosted by the World Affairs Council of Charlotte (WACC). Both individuals were recognized for their contributions in the private and public sector and significant presence within non-profit organizations domestically and internationally.

Nelson Schwab, co-founder and managing partner of Carousel Capital, and Jim Hynes, chairman of Hynes, Inc., presented the World Citizens Award to the Bowles. To cap this year’s award ceremony, Mark Malloch Brown, United Nations Chief of Staff, presented the keynote address.

Each fall, the WACC hosts the World Citizen Award Dinner, a high profile fund-raiser that has featured recipients and speakers such as John Belk, Herman Blumenthal, Hodding Carter, Elizabeth Dole, Hugh McColl, Billy Graham, and most recently, Jerry Richardson. The World Citizen Award is awarded annually at the dinner in recognition of individuals with ties to the Carolinas and distinguished by accomplishments of international significance.
