SUMMARY
Dr. Mohammed El-Nawawy, Assistant Professor and Knight-Crane Chair of Communication at Queens University, will be joining the Voyagers Club on February 22 for a discussion of “U.S. Public Diplomacy in the Arab World: Student Perceptions of Radio ‘Sawa’ and Television ‘Alhurra’.”  Dr. El-Nawawy will discuss the use and effectiveness of U.S.-sponsored media as a means of public diplomacy.  Radio “Sawa” and “Alhurra” TV are both Arabic-language stations funded by the Congress that attempt to reach the youth of the Arab world.  Dr. El-Nawawy will look at the results of a recent survey of college students from five Arab countries about their perceptions of the credibility of U.S.-sponsored media.
