Summary of US-Libyan Relations:
Since
1988 and the bombing of PanAm flight103 over Lockerbie, the
Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya had been cut off from most
of the global community and was sanctioned by the United Nations.
When Libya accepted formal responsibility for the PanAm bombing in
2003 and began making other moves to restore its place in world
affairs, the United Nations lifted its sanctions, and the US began
the process of restoring relations with Libya.

Topic Summary
As the EU continues to struggle economically, companies in
Germany, France, Italy and England continue their expansion
east past the former Eastern Block countries of Poland,
Check Republic, Hungary, etc. to the Ukraine and Russia in
search of cheap skilled labor. Additionally huge consumer
markets loom in Russia and the Ukraine. The future of EU-Russian
relations will have tremendous importance in the continued
development of the EU. Additionally, as the world grows
increasingly closer this relationship will become just as
important as the EU's relationship with the US, and this
development will be critical to watch for the US, as our own
foreign policy toward China and the EU continues to develop.
