CORPORATE UNDERWRITING

$ 2,500 – Underwrite a Council Scholar

This program recognizes up to three Charlotte area teachers, grades PK-12, who have demonstrated a commitment to, and interest in international education. Each award may be used for classroom materials, to attend international or domestic conferences or to participate in study abroad programs. Teachers are given the opportunity to then share new perspectives with their students enhancing the classroom experience.

$ 2,500 – Underwrite an Annual Teacher Workshop

These workshops, planned and coordinated by the World Affairs Council of Charlotte, highlight global issues for teachers throughout the region in conjunction with international curriculum. Local experts provide information on current events, US policy, religion, culture, economies, geography and more. Comprehensive resource materials are provided.

$ 750 – Underwrite a World Affairs Council of Charlotte Sponsored Luncheon

These luncheons, which are held monthly, feature noted local, national and international experts, who speak on a variety of topics that can range from economics to globalization to foreign policy. Generally these lunches are attended by between 50 and 100 members of the Council and representatives of the business community.

$ 500 – Underwrite a Language Luncheon

This program honors the top two high school students from every public and private school in Mecklenburg County with outstanding French, German or Spanish language skills. International cuisine is featured along with a speaker who addresses the students in their chosen language.
