The eleventh annual WorldQuest international trivia competition took place Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the Renaissance Hotel Suites.  Twenty-eight teams participated in the event and answered grueling questions in history, current events, geography, people in the news, and several others.  Ultimately, staff of Charlotte Country Day School claimed first place.  They narrowly beat out last year’s winners from Providence Day School Faculty, Team Blue, who came in second; U.S. Customs and Border Protection placed third.

The World Affairs Council of Charlotte (WACC) celebrates 11 years of bringing WorldQuest to the Charlotte community. Since it’s inception in 1995 by our Council, WorldQuest has grown into a countrywide trivia competition within the WACA system focusing on international affairs. This program is part of our continued commitment to education and promotion of international understanding in the Charlotte area.
 
The WACC would like to invite you to participate in a fast-paced, fun, and challenging competition set to test your knowledge on international affairs.

PROMOTE INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING
 
Consider creating a group of like-minded individuals interested in international affairs. Individuals, businesses/corporations/organizations (for profit and non-profit) and schools can create teams.
 
If you’re an individual interested in participating in WorldQuest 2007 but don’t have a team, we will assign a team for you.
 
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
 
What is WorldQuest?
 
This unique event, which debuted in Charlotte, has become a major fund-raising event around the country for other World Affairs Councils. Teams from local businesses, schools and other organizations compete for prizes in this international trivia competition held each year. Challenging questions are prepared for the competition relating to current events, geography and international issues.
 
Who Can Play?
 
Individuals, businesses/corporations/organizations (for profit and non-profit) and schools can create teams. If you’re an individual interested in participating in WorldQuest 2007 but don’t have a team, we will assign a team for you. Each team consists of 8-individual players.

How is WorldQuest Played?

There will be seven rounds in WorldQuest 2007. Each round will consist of 10-20 questions, 30-seconds for each questions. Each team will be provided with an answer sheet that must be turned in at the end of each round. Only correct answers will be considered for the final tally. Participants can challenge the answers should there be a discrepancy in the answers/questions. In the event of a tie, a sudden death round will be played.
 
There will be an intermission after the fourth round. During that time, answers to each question (in previous rounds) will be read out.
 
Contest Question Presentation
 
Questions will be projected onto a screen by PowerPoint and read aloud by a moderator. Question formats will included:
 
Multiple Choice Options - Questions will included four potential answers. Individual teams are required to select the correct/best answer.
 
Pictorial: Photographs of flags, currency, famous faces and landmarks will be projected on the screen. Individual teams are required to select the correct/best answer.
 
How do I Register?
 
Individuals or teams can complete invitations sent out by the WACC in the mail or download an online application.  
 
What is the Registration Fee?
 
Member's Registration Fee - $ 35
Non-Member's Registration Fee- $ 45
 
What if I need to Cancel?
 
Refunds will only be given before we have guaranteed the number of participants to the hotel. This usually takes place 2 to 5 days before the event. If you are not able to cancel before we guarantee, you are encouraged to find someone to play in your place.
