April 2: In partnership with the Jesse Helms Center Foundation, The Atlantic Bridge, and the British American Business Council, WACC is pleased to present Dr. Liam Fox MP at the Charlotte City Club at noon. Dr. Fox is a Member of Parliament and Shadow Secretary of State for Defence. He will be speaking on the topic of "Energy Security." The cost for WACC Members is $25 for individuals and $40 for a couple. The cost for Non-Members is $35 for individuals and $50 for a couple. Payment can be made by credit card or at the door. April 3: Ambassador Jean-David Levitte, Ambassador of France to the U.S., will discuss "U.S.-French Relations" at a luncheon at the Westin Hotel Charlotte beginning at 12 PM and ending at 1:30 PM.  The cost is $40 for members and $50 for nonmembers.  Reservations are being accepted at 704-687-7762 or to rvincent@worldaffairscharlotte.org.  Visa, Mastercard and checks are accepted.

The World Affairs Council of Charlotte is partnering with the European American Business Forum to bring German Consul General Hans-Joerg Brunner to Charlotte and offer this event to our members. Mr. Brunner has served in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the United States and will bring those perspectives to his presentation on the international challenges facing Germany in 2007.  The dinner will be held February 5, 2007 at the Double Tree Guest Suites Hotel.  An hour of socializing and an open cash bar will begin at 6:00 PM and will be followed by dinner at 7:00 PM; the program will begin at 8:00 PM. The cost is $30/person.  Please make reservations with Gunda Knese at 704.377.0239.  The deadline is February 2, 2007.

Dr. Mohammed El-Nawawy, Assistant Professor and Knight-Crane Chair of Communication at Queens University, will be joining the Voyagers Club on February 22 for a discussion of “U.S. Public Diplomacy in the Arab World: Student Perceptions of Radio ‘Sawa’ and Television ‘Alhurra’.”
