Cindy Castano will speak about slavery in Darfur. Cindy is a Charlotte native and former investment banker in New York. Cindy is making a documentary film, "My Slave, My Infidel." She has traveled to Africa numerous times.

28th -  American Friends of the Chateau de Compiegne will hold a reception and private viewing of Monet in Normandy at the NC Museum of Art in Raleigh.The cost is $60 per person and includes drinks, hor d’oeuvres, distinguished guests from France, and a preview tour of the Chateau. The International Festival is held, rain or shine, in and around the Barnhardt Student Activities Center on the campus of UNC Charlotte from 10 AM to 6 PM. Friday, September 29th

WACC, along with International House, UNC Charlotte’s College of Computing and Informatics, Management InSites, and the U.S. Import/Export Office is co-sponsoring “Promoting Business and Trade with Denmark” on September 29, at 3pm in the Woodrow Building, Room106. Mr. Niels Junker Jacobsen, Minister-Counselor of Economic Affairs from the Danish Embassy in Washington , D.C. will give a slide-show presentation on U.S. trade and investment with Denmark . In addition, Dr. James Walsh, Associate Professor of Political Science at UNC Charlotte, will offer his views on U.S./Scandinavian trade relations.

21st - "The Real Agenda of Human Rights" by Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland and U.N. high Commissioner for Human Rights.
 
Thanks to Guilford College, tickets are $10 each ($20 for non-members), and those attending from Charlotte will be seated together in the auditorium.  Program begins at 7:30 PM and we will coordinate travel to and from the event.  Please call 704-687-4485 before September 7th to make a reservation.
